Durations of Individual Tracks of the Altarus and Continuum Recordings

This page lists the durations (not given in the booklets or on the discs themselves) of each track on all recordings containing music by Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji that have appeared on the Altarus and Continuum labels. The durations have been obtained using the open source CD digital audio extractor CDex, and rounded to eliminate the hundredths of a second. They may differ slightly from the actual durations by a few seconds, as the software obviously cannot detect when the performer lifts the hands from the keyboard or releases the pedal.

The Altarus titles are presented in numerical order (which differs from the order of release), followed by the single Continuum title. In the case of boxed sets, the disc number is added before the track number, e.g., 1-2. The use of […] instead of a work title and of Roman numerals for some section numbers leads to some oddities in sorting for “Title” column; this feature is unlikely to serve very often in this case. The section headings are followed by a bullet () when a recording features other composers.

See also page Durations of Recorded Performances of Opus clavicembalisticum.

Note: Due to the large number of tables on this page, the search instructions are given below and not systematically repeated, as in the other pages.

Click on a column heading to sort, then shift-click on other headings to sort on multiple columns.
Surround strings with quotation marks for specific searches. Refresh the page to revert to the initial order.

About Altarus, see “A complete discography of Altarus Records” on Discophage: An authoritative website for the serious listener and record collector of classical music (dated 14 March 2022).
